So it is September at last, which means one thing, I can't wait to crack out the pumpkins!
I love autumn, and last year I made my first ever crocheted pumpkins. I enjoyed it so much I made three of varying designs and sizes.
They were so easy to make. I used the pattern by Bella Coco Crochet and had great fun with the colours. For the big orange one i actually used a bigger hook and three strands of different shades of orange to add a deeper layer to the colours. The middle one I chose a lovely mustard (I love this colour in autumn!), and for the little one I experimented using black and white dk together to give it a sort of humbug vibe!
I really think there are endless possibilities when it comes to colour. In fact I have a new idea in mind this year and can't wait to show it to you in the next few weeks!

This week I saw another great pumpkin make which I couldn't wait to try out! This cute pumpkin house was designed by Elisa of Elisa's Crochet (you can find the free pattern here) and I thought it would look great on display over the Halloween season.

It's adorable with it's little windows and door, and once you get the pumpkin made it suddenly comes together really quickly. Mine is a bit bigger than Elisa's as I used a 4mm hook as opposed to the 2.5mm hook which she recommended for hers. It was a great stash buster as well, as I have been trying to use up this orange for a few years now.
The only difference I found was the tendrils didn't spring up as tightly as hers did, and I wonder if this is because I used the bigger hook, or whether she used cotton, which would be tighter than acrylic yarn. To be honest I think it suits it with the tendrils falling further down as the pumpkin is quite a bit bigger.
Now when I made this I imagined putting it on my windowsill but there was something missing, and then it clicked, this little house needs a little mouse, and what better than a witchy mouse at that?!
I have never made amigurumi this small before and for this I did crack out the smaller hooks. Isn't she sweet?
I feel the need to try and fashion her a broomstick but that will have to wait for another day.
Thanks so much for heading over to Made Lovingly today! If you want to make a little mouse for your pumpkin house or just to make her for the fun of it, look out in the blog next week for her free pattern!
