Hi and welcome back to the blog!
This week I had fun making an impromptu infinity scarf - knitted with my arms! yes that's right I did say knitted (I know this is a crochet blog but knitting is not a rude word) - there were no needles in sight. I must admit this isn't the first time I have had a go at this but I needed to replace the one I made a few years back as it had become a bit tatty to be honest.
First time around I opted for Cygnet chunky yarn, which is a full acrylic yarn, however this time I opted for something a bit more luxe - well for me anyway!
I noticed on lovecrafts.com they had a sale and spotted a yarn brand called Yarn and Colours. Now I had never heard of them before so didn't know what their yarn would be like. I loved the colours and when I noticed it was chunky I immediately thought of remaking an infinity scarf.

I chose Yarn and Colours Urban in a silvery colour and it was a bit OTT for me, at nearly £10 for 200g, but as it was 40% off I thought I'd give it a go.
To make the infinity scarf you need 400g of yarn as mentioned on the website (linked to the video) therefore I bought two skeins.
Now I find visual tutorials are a lot easier to follow, however, I did find arm knitting a bit tricky to start with. You may find you need to re-watch parts over and over like I did, but when you get into it, it becomes quite rhythmic and much easier. They do say you can make this scarf in 30 minutes - it took me about an hour for my first (even that is pretty quick for a full scarf though lets be fair!) If you want to follow the same video as I did, you can find it here.

I would say after making it, if I made another one with this yarn I would probably buy three skeins and make it slightly longer. With two, I found it was quite snug on my (fat) neck! It will be lovely on a cold day but I personally prefer it to hang a bit lower. It does create a lovely texture though as you work it with two strands together, as you can see below.

Yarn and Colours Urban yarn is such a lovely yarn! It is about an 80/20 acrylic/wool mix and it is soooooooooo soft! The colours were nice, I absolutely loved the silver. It may look a bit blue in the other pictures as they have a filter on, but the picture below has no filter so you could see what the shade is really like.

So all in all, I would really recommend the yarn if you can afford it - look out for discounts on yarn websites (I think it cost me just over £5 each in the end). It is quite loosely spun, a bit like roving, so just make sure you don't use it for anything that could get pulled at by little hands as I imagine it could get pulled out of shape.
There are a few tutorials on YouTube so I definitely recommend giving arm knitting a go, the results are pretty amazing in such a short time!

I hope you enjoyed seeing what I've been up to this week!
